Putting yourself out there.

I have a good friend named Hansi that once told me he would rather crash and burn rather than not try. He was speaking about approaching women. I have an amazing professor that told me that my camera was my backstage pass to life and that it could take me anywhere. I had already figured that out, but he helped put into words for me.
Its funny to me how i can approach anyone, model, celebrity, bum any one to take their photograph, or even take their clothes off for a photograph.
when it comes to a woman i am interested in, i usually don't say anything. just play it really cool. I think i read too much Bukowski in my early twentys and am now realizing after all my failed attempts. Lets see what my thirtys will hold for me.

enjoy these new images.

Its been a long time, since i left you.

It's been a long time since i postedd anything. Time flys when you are in school and working full time, still trying to make it to shows and network with new models and anyone of interst really. these shots are two of many i just got developed. i developed thirty seven rolls of assorted 35 mm negatives. there was rolls dating back to 2006. Some of them were all drunk point and shoot and some of them really made me look at my evolving work and over all aesthetic. Its funny when you lay out hundreds of images you shot over time and see flaws, accedental success and how i was shaping up to be the kind of shooter i am today.
The top shot of Ashley is from 2011.

This second shot is from an art show in 2009 i believe

I just got a 4x5 camera, stay tuned.

Hair long and black and curly like you cuban.

I love this girl, came and shot with me last minute then we went and had burritos. She is truly beautiful, i don't use photoshop and Alex is the perfect example of why i don't need to.

Thank you Alex.

Im so busy, and so tired.

Being creative is a burden. Sometimes i wish i could just turn it off and sell all my photo shit and be happy just working a blue collar job and drinking on the weekend, just waiting to knock someone up and throw in the towel.
I dont have it in me to give up but since i have turned thirty years old i feel like im failing cause i am not on the level i wish to be. When i catch up with friends i talk about all my photo journeys and people i have shot or who i am working with next, and it sounds exiting but really its just tiring. Photo is such an over looked medium of art. i get great feed back, a ton of blog hits but none of it is paying the bills.
I took these images in SF, editing a lot of old work and i keep coming back to these rolls. i miss shooting street but am lacking the drive to make new street work or any for that matter. i say that but i am still shooting daily and wanting to shoot myself in the face every night. i can only hope to get hit by a bus while waiting the stop and die grinding and leave my legacy as a starving artist for my mother to collect off my negatives and gamble it away, only to borrow more money from my brother to bury my ass.

enjoy these free images.

Modern Muse

Ongoing work with my favorite person. Ashley has been inspiring me for years. I think it was her all these years ago that i noticed a change in my work flow with. Even days after hanging out with her she was an inspiration to my work. A combination of beauty and energy that kept me painting and now making images. It's refreshing to have her in front of my lens.

NOW. Get busy.

I was all over the map with Anika, LA, Brooklyn, expired film, chrome, black & white. Running low on my film supply and trying to keep up with conceptual ideas as well as continue to shoot portraits of people, artist, lovers, mothers and fathers. I have been staying way focused, i feel as if i have been humbled by my recent living situations and just battle with being poor as well as creative. i am on the move and i hope i continue to go up. i have accomplished a lot and now i am removing the blind fold to see my next giant steps.
